Pumpfest, Safra Competition, NISCC

Hello oldies but goldies,

Pumpfest - There will be no selection, and anyone can sign up to participate.  Pls pass me the forms and registration fee by tomorrow.  More forms can be printed at http://ntuodac.com/pumpfest/

SAFRA2 Competition - Will email pdf to Mason.  Competition is only 1 day, 31 May.  It is not a school event, and any number of people may take part.  Those interested pls send me an email.

NISCC 09- The dates are 11,12,18 and 19 Jul.  You'll only need to commit at most 2 days to the event.  Good news, Ms Wee has convnice the HOD to allow you to take part in the competition, SUBJECT to your school results.  SO, pls work hard on your climbing, but also on your studies!

Training Objectives:  I would like some of you to specialise in Speed Climbing, and some in Lead.  I already have a new set of training to impart to you, but the most opportune time will be next Friday.

Tomorrow's Training:  I would like to finish up on the Level 2, so those who have not abseiled before, PLS turn up tomorrow.  Those who have not done the "Topping-out" PLS appear too.

Those who have done both will focus on their climbing projects.  Try to red-point - Blue route on the roof, Purple on the left, Green in the Middle, World of Goo, Orange Route on left.

If we have time, I have some new training methods for those specializing in speed climbing.

cheers
Ben Toh

To Freshies

Hello Freshies, you're now evolved to Freshie+.
Great job yesterday.  I'm impressed by how fast all of you are able to belay proficiently, except for a few careless mistake and using the belay device upside down :)

Enjoy your camp this Friday, and if you're interested to see a live performance of Fire Spinning on Friday..., it can be arranged... (though i'm no where as good as that guy in the video!)

As for our training goals, I would like everyone to be able to clock 20 climbs at one climbing session by the end of May.  More training details coming up.

cheers
Ben Toh

the guy from kratos has suggested an alternative design for the shirt, considering how the lines cannot extend to the ends of each shirt.(its like fixed printing sizes and stuffs)

please let me know what ya'll feel about it by sunday, i need a general consensus.

i know this thing has been dragging on and on and on, but this is final.
so i need everyone's cooperation okay? thanks and i love you guys.

Protips on Dynoing

Hey, some tips on how to dyno.  PLEASE be safe when practising.  Don't fly down the steps (when dynoing left) or fly down into the canal.  Check out Protips 5 for climbers humour.

Chalk and Precursor to Training for Speed Climbers

Hello people,

I've mail-ordered 100blocks of chalk to supply to SMU and SAJC.  I'm selling at cost (after freight) at $2.50.  Let me know if you need one, and I'll bring it down during training.

Also check out the training embeded above.  This is what we'll be doing to increase the speed and agility of the team.  Especially for those who wants to compete in the speed category.

cheers all!

UPDATES!

hello hello to all.

some reminders and updates:
1. please, Please, PLEASE remember to bring your forms and $10 (for the shirt) on thurs.

2. because of the release of PW results, we'll be meeting at 12.30 instead, boulder wall. bring money for your shoes!

3. monday will be your very-exciting-first-trip to climbasia. meet 3pm at boulder wall. we'll set off at 3.20. those who end later (say 3.30-400), please still meet at the boulder wall. there'll be a second batch of seniors waiting to bring you there.

oh and although LOANSHARK wrote alotalotalot of words on the previous post, please read it through cos its vehveh important.
okay thats about all.

keep pulling up! its so much nicer to see someone doing pull-ups and realise its a rock climber rather than another canoeist:)

CREDIT SYSTEM for climbasia

this is for the benefit of all J1s who will have to start paying for your climbasia sessions soon(i'll begin collecting payments soon), as well as all J2s who have conveniently forgotten how it works.

basically, there is this main central fund (like a bank) which stores all the money we pay at the beginning of each month, and evertime we go to climbasia they just deduct from there.

so how the j2s are currently going about doing it:
at the beginning of the year, they paid a base sum of $30. consequently for each month they would pay for the number of sessions they have attended the month before.
i.e. i attended 3 sessions in march, so i will pay $6(the amount per session at CA) x 3 = $18.
this will help ensure that at the beginning of every month everyone still has the remaining base sum deposited the first time round.

currently plans are still underway to determine the outcome of the extra 30 bucks in there.
for j2s: i'll probably get a general consensus as to how we're gonna use the money, but for now let's assume it gives us 5 more no-need-to-pay climbs.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THIS POINT BELOW VERY IMPORTANT OKAY!!!!!
if you decide to go to climbasia to climb during non-training days please please PLEASE do not use the school credits, as i will not be able to keep track of how many sessions each person has gone for in this case. another alternative is to message me IMMEDIATELY any time you credit our sajc account. if you all dont know my number its 98187987 so there's really no excuse to say you forgot.
remember that integrity is a virtue, and there have been cases where we were short of money because people had used our credits without ms wee, mr chua or my knowledge.
so please, very very important.

i think i've said enough, but ona final note, i'd like to announce that john has just been made assistant treasurer, so well done!(and we can all give him a pat on the back)
he'll be assisting me with accounts, so if you cannot reach me for whatever reason he'll be the man you go to ya?

Keep it up!

Saw some of the J1s self-training at the pull-up bars today. Whenever you guys have breaks do use it to condition your body because formal training just isn't enough. To those already doing so, great attitude and keep it up(:

JC1 & 2

Hello all!!

We are going to Peninsula Plaza next Thursday after Sport Day to buy rock climbing shoes and chalk bags and chalk balls and chalk refills. It is highly recommended that you buy a pair of climbing shoes, just as you see all JC2s with their own climbing shoes. (although someone has lost his)

Anyway, you need to check your shoe size and when you buy your shoes, buy a size smaller. If you wear US 8, then buy US 7 for your climbing shoes. For pro-climbers, they wear 2 sizes down.

So, bring your cash - around $100++. If you need help, please talk to Timothy or Dawn.

Cheers!
Timothy

p.s. Mason wants to pawn NISSCC.
p.p.s. Timothy wants to eat NISSCC.
